TASUED STUDENT EMERGES MISS OGUN 2012 BEAUTY PAGEANT
… As Miss TASUED Emerges 3rd
It was another accolade for the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State as two female students of the University made the institution proud as they emerged 1st and 3rd positions respectively at the recently organized Miss Ogun 2012 Beauty Pageant held in Abeokuta.
The pageantry which was organized by Gotham City Entertainment in collaboration with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) saw Miss Onipede Adedolapo Olasunbo, a 200 level English Language student emerged winner while Miss Adesanya Kehinde Omolayo (currently Miss TASUED) also a 200 level English Language student emerged 3rd position.
At a well attended event, the first Lady of Ogun State, Mrs Olufunso Amosun crowned Miss Onipede Adedolapo Olasunbo winner of Miss Ogun 2012 amidst pomp and circumstance with the advice to be a good ambassador of Ogun State. Other institutions that participated in the contest include Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, BOWEN University, Iwo, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
In her reaction, Miss Ogun 2012, Onipede Adedolapo Olasunbo said she was highly delighted for making the University proud. “We have proved to people who believe TASUED is not relevant in the scheme of things wrong” she added. Miss Ogun further advised students not to indulge in promiscuity but to be honourable in whatever they do.
While reacting to her success in the contest, the 2nd runner up who doubles as Miss TASUED, Adesanya Kehinde Omolayo noted that it was a great achievement for the University “because this is the first time TASUED will emerge 1st position after seven years of the competition which coincides with the years of existence of the University. She further added that the University will surely get over the challenges facing the Institution in recent time while she advised her fellow students “to be focused irrespective of the situation they may have found themselves.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Segun Awonusi said he was impressed with the students’ performance in the contest. “With your outstanding performance in the contest, you have become our academics ambassadors” He enthused.
As a mark of motivation to the students, the Vice Chancellor announced the waiver of one session tuition for Miss Onipede Adedolaopo Olasunbo, who emerged Miss Ogun 2012 while a cash gift N40, 000 was awarded to Miss Adesanya Kehinde Omolayo who emerged 3rd position in the beauty pageant.
