We of the COSIT family (staff and students), hereby use this forum to express deep appreciation to all members of the University community, the guest lecturer and all invited guests for gracing the College 1st distinguished guest lecture held on Friday, 22nd June, 2012.

Dean appreciates COSIT family
The Dean of COSIT Prof. Abayomi A. Arigbabu has expressed sincere appreciation to all staff and students of the College for their cooperation and unflinching support. According to him this was further demonstrated during the planning and execution of the maiden guest lecture of the College held on Friday 22nd June, 2012. The appreciation was contained in a letter personally signed by the Dean and addressed to each member of staff.
Okebukola calls for reforms in Teacher Education
Prof Peter Okebukola, an erudite science educator and former Executive Secretary of NUC has called for urgent reform in teacher education. In his lecture presented at the COSIT 1st distinguished guest lecture on Friday 22nd June 2012, he proposed the following:
Ø Reduction in the load of Education courses.
Ø Increase in the load of teaching subject courses.
Ø More time for teaching practice.
Ø Avoidance of early specialization.
Ø Avoidance of admission to unqualified candidates.
Ø Regulation of sandwich/part-time programmes.
Ø Periodic training in modern methods of teaching.
Ø Exemplary dressing and conduct.
Ø Enforcement of minimum qualification for teaching.
Ø Training in Pedagogical skills.
Ø Training in research skills.
Ø Mentoring.
Ø Teacher Quantity.
Ø Teacher licensing and revalidation of license.

TASUED organizes e-PUTME
TASUED recorded another great feat with the conduct of its Post UTME by electronic testing (between Wednesday 20th and Friday 22nd June, 2012). It is remarkable that the e-test was held at the University e-learning centre and wholly handled by the University in-house ICT team without outsourcing. It is also remarkable that the result of the test was posted on the University website within few hours of the conclusion of the test on each of the three (3) days.
Senate insists on maximum duration for award of degree
Senate at its 51st statutory meeting of Wednesday 27th June, 2012 reiterated that the maximum allowable duration for the award of a Bachelors degree is six years for full-time (of four years duration)[or seven years for part-time programme (of normal five years duration)]. It however approved a special waiver in respect of students, with just one course sail outstanding at the expiration of the final sixth year allowable. Such students would be allowed to graduate with an ordinary PASS grade irrespective of his/her GPA standing.
Adeyeye and Gbadamosi appointed GT
Miss Adeyeye, Elizabeth Oyinkansola and Mr. Gbadamosi, Muideen Remilekun have been appointed Graduate Trainees in keeping with TASUED tradition for its first class graduates.

Adeogun proceeds on sabbatical
Dr. A.O. Adeogun of the department of Human Kinetics and Health Education have been granted approval to proceed on sabbatical leave for the period 1st July, 2012 to 30th June, 2013.
COSIT Newsline wishes Dr. Adeogun a worthwhile sabbatical experience.
Call for Research Proposal
The University Central Research Committee has called for submission of research proposal for its consideration. Deans and HODs are particularly implored to encourage academic staff in their Colleges/Departments to respond to the call as a matter of urgency. Deadline for submission of proposals is 27th July, 2012.
Banjo is now TTCC Chairman
Dr. Abiodun Banjo of Creative Arts Department has been appointed the new Chairman of the University Time-Table and Calendar Committee. He replaces Dr (Mrs) Omolade Akinsanya who was the Chairman until the time of this appointment.
